Brian Leber’s work draws its inspiration from the natural world that surrounds and inhabits both his farm and the adjacent lands of what was once the vast tallgrass prairie that stretched across the Midwestern United States.

His writing touches on world history and earth science, astronomy and philosophy, animals and human nature, all set against an agrarian backdrop.

Leber’s essays have been described as “compelling, educational, thoughtful, and humorous,” that are oftentimes both “moving and comforting.” They have appeared in notable agrarian-focused publications including Farming: People, Land, Community, and Small Farmer’s Journal.

Leber lives and writes on Bray Grove Farm, a holistic, mule-powered farm located in rural Illinois that is devoted to providing sustenance to all creatures.
